About Tiwan Tiwa
Tiwan Tiwa, is an annual 3-day community and tourism street art festival in the Brazilian Quarters of Lagos Island. In partnership with the Brazilian Dependents’ Association, our primary intention is to work with the local community to showcase their culture, heritage and assets through food, music, dance, film, theatre, visual art, street art and street performances. Programmes include; BLOCK PARTY LAGOS, The Interactive Sessions, and The Brazilian Quarters Tour.
Day 1 - The Interactive Sessions
Date: Friday 16 November 2018
The interactive sessions features an intriguing combination of stimulating panel talks, visual presentations and performances, which will highlight the need for the preservation of our cultural heritage, as a means to safeguard our future as a community, people and nation at large.
Day 2 - BLOCK PARTY LAGOS
Date: Saturday 17th November 2018
Location: Upper Campos & Broad Street
BLOCK PARTY LAGOS brings different forms of creativity and individuality; dance, music, visual art, street performance, theatre, food, drinks, fashion, design, graffiti, and music performances out to the streets. It will encourage the use and ownership of public spaces, by creating spaces for interaction, exchange and creative engagement.
Day 3 - Brazilian Quarters Tour
A Tour of 12 historic sites which include Brazilian family houses in the Portuguese/Brazilian Quarters, Churches, Mosques, Schools, and the Bumba Me Boi cottage. The tour will be guided by Remi Dacosta, a resident Brazilian descendant and will begin at the Upper Campos Square. After the tour, Tourists will be entertained by the Yoruba-Agidigbo band and treated to delectable Brazilian Cuisine..
